An efficient workwear supply chain provides benefits for our customers
The supply of workwear is not driven by rapidly changing trends, unlike the fashion industry. However, workwear must be available as agreed – otherwise the work cannot be done. In this sector, quality, reliability and secure deliveries are crucial.
Customized workwear is gaining popularity
The need for individuality is growing significantly and this is evident at Lindström. The colors, details and materials of the workwear are carefully selected to create an appropriate company image. The diverse needs of companies pose different challenges for workwear suppliers. Sometimes only a few pieces of individually designed workwear are ordered in each size, while the more popular models are ordered in the thousands. Delivery must be planned in a way that ensures that users always have workwear available at the start of the working day, regardless of the category.
Focus on customer needs
Balancing customer needs with cost efficiency is essential when creating delivery models. Lindström strives to produce clothing only when customers need it. This allows Lindström to respond quickly to changing customer requirements, use textile raw materials wisely and avoid tying up capital in inventory.
„Our solution is to minimize the production and delivery time for workwear and eliminate all unnecessary phases in the process,“ says Jarmo Vähtervuo, who is responsible for supply channels at Lindström. Value-added time is what the customer is willing to pay for, and unnecessary phases are those where the process stops during storage, transportation or waiting for deliveries. „The goal is to deliver workwear to customers directly from the production facility without intermediate storage. This minimizes lead times and ensures that the warehouse is not filled with products that are not needed. This is good for both the customer and Lindström,“ says Vähtervuo.
