
Celebrating Nina Bačmaj’s milestones in building sales and marketing in Croatia
It all started with a joke. Last summer, Nina Bačmaj from Croatia casually mentioned that she would love it if every Lindström employee could get their birthday off as a personal holiday, along with a dedicated social media post.
It was a light-hearted comment, but it stuck with us. Nina has played a big role in shaping how sales and marketing work together at Lindström Croatia and Lindström Southeast Europe Region, so this year, we’re doing more than a post. We’re telling her story.
A versatile journey
After studying Business Economy and Marketing in Zagreb, Nina worked her way up through the telecommunications industry before spending nearly a decade working on cruise ships, leading housekeeping teams and supporting entertainment and marketing onboard. That experience taught her structure, precision, and how to adapt quickly to any situation.
Nina joined Lindström in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. With sales frozen and everything uncertain, she pitched in wherever she was needed. “All of us worked together as a team – from taking care of our existing clients and their needs to getting new sales up and running and trying out new marketing channels. This experience helped me to understand quickly how Lindström processes work and how every part of the business connects,” she recalls. “It was a tough year, but we got through it.”

Driving change together
Today, Nina blends strategic thinking with hands-on teamwork. She plans campaigns, supports telesales, creates marketing content, and coordinates closely with the sales team in the field. “There’s no marketing without sales, and no sales without marketing,” she explains.
Success, she says, comes from a collaborative spirit. “We are a small team in a small country. For many ideas, especially in digital marketing, we are the trial country in Lindström’s Southeast Europe Region. We test the ideas, get quick feedback and if the trials yield good results, move on swiftly with the implementation in the daily routine and share it with the rest of the teams.”
One of Nina’s proudest moments has been helping build the telesales structure in Croatia and later in the Southeast Europe Region from scratch. “There was no real structure at first, so we had to create everything: processes, materials and training. Seeing how telesales grew in the whole region in the last couple of years and the results it provides, makes me very happy and proud.”
There have also been challenges, especially keeping customers engaged during market slowdowns. “Sometimes people aren’t ready to buy or don’t even want to hear you out. That’s when you need creativity and patience, plus a team that supports each other,” she shares.
Nina credits Lindström’s culture for helping her navigate those ups and downs. “We have the freedom to act and help one another. That mindset makes it easier to handle challenges together.”
Grounded and growing
Outside of work, Nina finds balance through travel, time with family and friends, and getting out into nature. “It helps me stay grounded, and brings back fresh ideas,” she emphasises.
Reflecting on her journey so far, Nina appreciates the trust, flexibility, and openness at Lindström. “We support each other, work hard, and laugh a lot,” she notes. “You never know when a birthday joke might turn into something more.”
