Finnish parliament members visited Lindström in Mumbai
The visit is part of the 75th-anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between the countries. The Parliament’s Commerce Committee visited Lindström’s site in Mumbai and learned about our circular business model, unique production-on-demand concept, and workwear digitalisation. Our operations well support the key collaboration themes—sustainability, innovation, and digitalisation.
Our journey in India began 17 years ago with the introduction of a circular business model for business textiles. Jayant Roy, Managing Director of Lindström India, stated, “Our circular model and emission reduction initiatives contribute to India’s green transition. Digitalisation boosting innovation
One feature boosting innovative new solutions is workwear digitalisation. Every garment in our service is tagged with RFID technology, enabling real-time tracking and management. The RFID technology also provides real-time insights for our design team, allowing them to assess wear-and-tear patterns and determine when specific collections are worn out or need repairs. This data helps the team improve the design, making workwear more sustainable and long-lasting.
Digitally enabled solutions have also provided value-added solutions for customers. “Our digitalised workwear solutions not only enhance operational efficiency but also provide unprecedented value to customers in terms of hygiene management and cost optimisation,” says Manas Kumar, ourGlobal Director of Pharma, Strategic Marketing and Business Development APAC.
On-demand production practices
The Finnish Parliament members toured our Prodem facility in Mumbai, the only one in Asia. It serves the Indian market with on-demand textile production that reduces overproduction as it eliminates the textile obsolescence risk in stocks. In 2023 alone, the facility’s 65 employees manufactured an impressive 237,086 pieces of textiles on demand, with the capability to fulfil orders in just 3-8 days.
