Dressing the Masters of Fun: celebrating 75 years of Linnanmäki with style

At Linnanmäki, fun has always been serious business. For 75 years, Linnanmäki amusement park has brought laughter, thrills, and lasting memories to millions of visitors in Helsinki and beyond.  But behind every magical moment is someone in uniform, giving directions, securing rides or hosting games.

For 30 years, Lindström has partnered with Linnanmäki to dress its “Masters of Fun”, from first-job teenagers to experienced ride operators, in workwear that is both dependable and colourful. As Linnanmäki celebrates its 75th anniversary, we are taking a ride down memory lane to highlight the uniforms that have brought colour and confidence to generations of staff.

We found original Linnanmäki workwear sketches from the 1990s–2000s, early examples of our design work together.

More than just workwear

To learn more about how workwear has shaped the Linnanmäki experience over the decades, we spoke with Kirsi Tuovinen, HR Manager at Linnanmäki.

“In 1995, Linnanmäki introduced standardised uniforms for all Masters of Fun. Since then, some rides have even featured their own unique outfits,” Kirsi explains. “For example, when the ride Raketti (originally called Space Shot) opened in 1999, it came with its own space-themed jackets.”

Today, uniforms are developed in collaboration with Lindström, based on feedback from the Masters of Fun themselves. This partnership has resulted in a wide range of garments tailored specifically to the park’s needs.

She also points out that consistent and recognisable uniforms make staff easy to identify. This contributes to a stronger sense of safety and encourages visitors to seek assistance, which in turn enhances the overall customer experience.

From personal clothing to smart wardrobes

We asked Kirsi to share a personal memory related to the Linnanmäki uniform.

“My most vivid memory isn’t about the clothing itself but about the introduction of our smart wardrobe system, launched for the 2023 season,” she says. “It marked a major shift for every employee, moving from individually assigned uniforms to a shared lending model.”

This transition has made it easier to optimise uniform inventory during the peak amusement park season. “Feedback from our Masters of Fun has been very positive,” Kirsi notes. “The new system has significantly streamlined our uniform management processes.”

Workwear that lasts

At Lindström, workwear doesn’t end its journey after one season. Through repair, reuse and recycling, every piece is given the chance to live on. It might be handed off to the next employee, updated for a new role, or transformed entirely into something new.

“We are not just delivering clothes,” says Ulla Raunio, Project Manager at Lindström. “We are helping create a sense of identity. And when something is made well, it can have many lives.”

Linnanmäki also maintains a collection of workwear from across the decades. “It is a joy to preserve the park’s history through these garments,” Kirsi says. “Each piece reflects its era and captures the spirit of Linnanmäki at a different point in time.”

Care in every thread

For 75 years, Linnanmäki has offered joy with a purpose, supporting child welfare through every ticket sold. We are proud to support that mission by providing workwear that helps staff focus on what they do best: creating lasting memories for millions.

Linnanmäki uniforms have been worn through rainstorms and heatwaves by students in their first jobs and by experienced team leads. This summer, workwear also plays a key role in the park’s anniversary celebrations.

“To mark our 75th year, we introduced limited-edition Klassikko headwear,” says Kirsi. “All Masters of Fun are wearing them exclusively this season.”
