Long-term partners through times of change: Hartwall Turku and Lindström

Hartwall Turku, formerly known as Pernod Ricard, has been a long-standing customer of Lindström. Over the years, they have made wide use of our services, from workwear solutions to brand and safety mats, and washroom services.

Our collaboration has grown over time, built on mutual trust and shared goals. Recently, our partnership has taken a new direction thanks to some exciting developments. From 1st of March 2025, Hartwall has acquired the Finnish brands, production and sales operations that were previously part of Pernod Ricard.

These brands include several well-known and much-loved Finnish names. Among them are Lapponia liqueur, first produced in 1944, the internationally recognised Minttu liqueur, and a wide range of berry and fruit wines. This acquisition strengthens Hartwall’s focus on Finnish production and local beverage brands.

Production continues as before at the carbon-neutral facility in Turku, supporting responsible and environmentally aware operations into the future.

Both highlight the importance of a long-term partnership and how crucial it is to work with a partner who shares the same values, and where responsibility, quality and customer focus are part of everyday work.

Shared values at the core of responsible cooperation

Responsibility plays a central role for both Hartwall and Lindström. Our cooperation is built on high-quality services and a shared value base.

Hartwall Turku especially values Lindström’s local operations, the proximity of laundry services, and our circular service model, which supports sustainable development. These factors have been a significant part of the partnership’s value.

Responsibility and local service will continue to be key elements of our collaboration, even with the change in ownership. Hartwall is equally committed to promoting sustainability and meeting Finnish expectations on domestic production, transparency and environmental responsibility. Their sustainability programme focuses on three themes: sustainable production, drinks that do good, and the wellbeing of their employees.

A reliable partner with a strong reputation

From Hartwall Turku’s point of view, Lindström is a trusted and well-regarded partner. “We especially appreciate the local nature of the service. The service centre in Runosmäki is only about ten kilometres from our production site, which makes logistics efficient and flexible,” explains Juha-Pekka Korhonen.

The service works independently and reliably. Schedules are kept and we don’t need to chase anything.

The cooperation has also been smooth from a staff perspective. “In the workwear service, we especially appreciate that Lindström has taken a proactive approach to our team’s needs and responded quickly,” says HR Business Partner Heidi Kytöluhta.

Expectations for the service have been high, with a strong focus on user-friendliness, reliability and responsibility. Lindström has delivered with a tailored, practical and sustainable solution.

Safety starts at the doorstep! The mat at the entrance to the production area acts as a safety reminder, highlighting key guidelines before stepping into the workspace. Its symbols warn of slipping hazards, forklift traffic and required protective gear such as headwear, clothing and footwear.

Design mats that support communication

Hartwall Turku has used Lindström’s mat service in versatile ways. Standard mats help keep spaces clean and pleasant, while custom design mats also support internal communication.

The company uses mats that promote their brand and share responsibility messages. In production areas, safety mats help highlight the importance of occupational safety.

Hartwall Turku Oy is regularly audited by DNV, an internationally recognised and independent organisation. These audits review quality management, environmental responsibility and the implementation of safety in everyday operations.

External audits support continuous improvement and help ensure that operations meet even the strictest quality and responsibility standards. The safety mats have received excellent feedback in DNV audits.

Traditional oak barrels reflect craftsmanship and the art of maturing drinks. Each barrel is marked with its volume and a Roman numeral – details that evoke traditional methods of beverage production and storage.

A partnership that lives up to expectations

Working with Lindström has lived up to expectations, which is increasingly valuable today. Both Juha-Pekka Korhonen and Heidi Kytöluhta give special thanks to Lindström for their ongoing development of products and designs. This improvement work has been a visible part of the customer relationship.

Over time, we have made a real effort to listen and respond to our customer. Hartwall Turku feels that their voice has been heard and their feedback taken seriously. While they work with several partners, Lindström stands out in a particularly positive way.

Alcohol production has a long tradition in Turku, going back to 1867. The factory was part of the global Pernod Ricard Group until 28 February 2025. From then on, Oy Hartwall Ab has taken over the Finnish brands and production.

Hartwall has been refreshing Finland with its drinks since 1836. Their range includes everything from water to wine, from the classic Jaffa to the iconic long drink. These beloved drinks are produced fossil-free in Lahti and Turku, and spring water is bottled in Karijoki. Behind it all are more than 700 Hartwall employees, whose safety and wellbeing are always a top priority.
