Meconet partners with Lindström for smarter textile solutions
For 17 years, Meconet, has relied on Lindström to keep their operations clean and efficient. Located in Estonia, Meconet produces metal components. According to the company’s supply manager, Annely Peekmann, every stage of the journey with Lindström has brought new discoveries and opportunities to work more simply and cleanly.
I have worked at Meconet for almost 20 years and have seen the work both before and after Lindström. I must say that our experience has been simply excellent. High-quality products, seamless service, and human and professional customer managers have made Lindström the ideal partner for us.
Meconet uses Lindström services for workwear, mats, and industrial wipers. The first service that marked the beginning of their now 17-year partnership was renting the workwear.
A partnership that stands the test of time
Meconet especially appreciates and recommends Lindström’s industrial wiper service to partners.
Our work is very oily – we pour oil into machines, use various thicker oils applied with brushes, as well as oil that is sprayed onto components or into equipment. In this type of environment, people need specialised workwear and wipers to maintain cleanliness.
Managing workwear at Meconet before having Lindström’s service was difficult and time consuming. “People had to go one by one to a sewing workshop to provide measurements and try on garments. It took a lot of time, and despite the long wait, often they still didn’t get the right sizes. There were also no digital communication channels in use,” the customer representative remembers.
Washing the workwear was also complex. Meconet had a washing machine intended for workwear, but it wasn’t always working properly. It wasn’t uncommon for people to take their workwear home for washing. Another issue was employees working in their personal clothes because all overalls were too dirty.
“I still have my first contract with Lindström. It is dated 10 November 2006 – it was an agreement signed with our group in Finland. Under that, workwear sample sets in various sizes were delivered to our factory. Since then, our textiles have completely transformed – from comfortable, logoed uniforms to industrial wipers and mats, Lindström is now a daily part of our toolkit.
Customer support that goes above and beyond
Every development at Meconet has been supported by the attentive and professional customer managers from Lindström. They have been able to identify production areas where textile rental services can add value.
Of course, customer managers have changed over the years, but interestingly, they have all been such helpful and pleasant people. This kindness and friendliness have only increased over the years. They understand that workwear and wipers are not my main job and that I have a thousand more important matters to deal with during my workday. They are super-fast, collaborative, and help solve every issue.
Peekmann shared a recent example to illustrate the high level of customer support. After replacing floor coverings, it became clear that one dirt-trapping mat was no longer enough. “The customer manager immediately came to the factory with mat samples. They tested different solutions, laid down new mats, and sent the contract modification for signing. I don’t have to measure, choose, or decide anything myself – and that’s exactly the kind of support I need,” she explains. Peekmann also notes that even when workwear goes missing, a replacement set is just a quick phone call away.
From improvised solutions to professional industrial wipers
A significant part of Lindström’s service involves various industrial wipers. Their introduction, according to Peekmann, was a real revolution at Meconet. It has inspired several partners to adopt this service as well.
“We’ve been asked, ‘Where did you get such good wipers?’ We’re not stingy with recommendations! It’s great to see other companies also finding suitable tools with Lindström’s help to maintain a cleaner work environment and simplify their work,” she adds.
Before introducing Lindström’s industrial wiper service Meconet relied on leftover materials for cleaning oily components, surfaces, and hands. “People brought old T-shirts, bed linen, towels – anything that could help with cleaning. We also tried paper, but it mostly smeared the dirt rather than absorbing it. Suddenly, we had professional wipers, which we do use a lot, around 4–5 wipers per day per employee. But people are happy—the industrial wipers work really well, just super! It’s hard to believe, but certain wipers can absorb as much as 5 litres of oil. This makes a massive difference in maintaining cleanliness.” Peekmann says with delight.
Continuous positive improvements at Meconet
The Meconet supply manager says the company’s collaboration with Lindström is constantly evolving. “Soon, we will adopt Lindström’s locker service. Our service provider will not only take the used workwear for cleaning and return it to the factory after maintenance. They will also place each employee’s personal, clean, and named workwear in their own locker. I believe our employees will be very happy with this update,” she concludes.
