Lindström service centre adorned with 655 solar panels
Located in Piņķi, Latvia, the 2.000 m2 of solar panels have a total power of 245 kW, and the potential to produce approximately 226.620 kWh of green energy annually.
Continuing the commenced route to the Green Deal, the textile rental company Lindström joined forces with the energy group AJ Power to successfully complete the implementation of the solar park. 260.000 euros were put into the project that will independently be able to produce up to 30 percent of the annual electricity consumption of the Lindström service centre in Piņķi. Under the solar panel dressed roof, service-related textiles are processed, cleaned, and sorted.
From now on, using the electricity produced by the solar panels, 68.57 tonnes less CO2 emissions* will be released into the atmosphere annually, which equals 3.117 planted trees. Lindström Latvia is the first of the Lindström Group subsidiaries to implement a solar panel park of such size in the Nordic and Baltic regions.
“With this project, we do not only increase the company’s energy efficiency and save up to 120.000 euros annually, but we also promote green business operations. To work greener and provide sustainable services — that is the Lindström way.” – Ivars Šmits, Managing Director, Lindström Latvia.
The company continues to introduce green and smart solutions in their processes, which enables an increase in energy efficiency, decrease in expenses, and a significant decrease in environmental impact. Investment in the production of green energy was simply the logical next step.
“Sustainable actions from companies is required not only by employees, but by society. In the future, the companies already developing and transforming their processes according to the latest trends will be the winners. We especially appreciate this project, since AJ Power and Lindström share a mission in their operations – to help other companies engage in circular economy, which is important not only at a state, but also at a regional level”,says Roberts Samtiņš, Head of the group of energy companies AJ Power.
Līga Mellēna, ALTUM Head of Enterprise Energy Efficiency Unit: “LLC (SIA) Lindström is a successful example of how companies using the available state support instruments can reduce the negative environmental impact and strengthen their energy independence. Installation of solar power stations for self-consumption is only one of the measures for which support can be received within the framework of the energy efficiency programme. We invite entrepreneurs to visit the Altum website, familiarise themselves with the provided opportunities, and find the most suitable one.”
Lindström’s solar park project was funded from ALTUM’s Recovery Fund, a part of their energy efficiency programme.,The capital discount was 96.600 euros.
